Where can you find the best design inspiration in London?
London is seen as the cultural capital of England (and arguably the UK). Whenever we visit the “Big Smoke”, there’s always something new to do or see. It’s a vast place and the choice can be overwhelming! Therefore, we asked Buttercrumble’s Creative Champion, Thyra, for an expert opinion!
Thyra has a lived-experience of London, so she’s provided the insider information. Here are top three places to find design inspiration in the city…
Brick Lane
Shoreditch, East London
“One of my go-to spots for inspiration would be Brick Lane. Located in Shoreditch, East London, Brick Lane is a vibrant creative hub bursting with history and is home to a number of quirky restaurants, bars and vintage shops. Brick Lane has stolen my heart on many occasions, but the one thing that stands out for me is the amazing street art. This is what inspires my bold, expressive style as a creative. The ability to give what used to be a derelict area new meaning inspires me to never disregard anything I create; there is beauty in everything”.
Camden Market
Camden Town, Northwest London
“Over the past 50 years, Camden Market has grown into a bustling culturally rich network which is home to a variety of independent shops, creative sellers, food stalls and many more. Camden Market is a diverse community of small businesses coming together to sell their products and services and seeing the determination and passion inspires me to apply the same hustle to my own practice. Whenever I’m in Camden Town, I always feel a strong sense of collaboration and togetherness. Qualities I think are important in the creative industry as a female designer”.
Saatchi Gallery
Chelsea, Southwest London
“Saatchi Gallery is an innovative creative space specialising in contemporary art. Saatchi Gallery uses its platform to showcase and support new emerging artists, making art accessible for all. I’m a firm believer in using your platform to uplift and inspire others which is why art galleries like Saatchi are important when looking for inspiration. You learn from the past to create something new”.
We often visit our London office in Whitechapel. When we do, we’re always on the lookout for inspiration to share. Are you looking to parter with a creative communications studio? Please get in touch and let’s catch-up over coffee and biscuits.
