Visualising academic research

The brief

Buttercrumble has partnered with the University of Leeds several times to perform visual note-taking at their conferences. They created a unique buzz and documented the event through the use of live illustration. Visual note-taking aids understanding of complex concepts and acts as a great marking tool too!

The University of Leeds is a public research university, established in 1904, in Leeds, West Yorkshire. It is one of the largest higher education institutions in the UK with a global reputation of delivery high-quality teaching and research.

How?

Buttercrumble illustrated the events using their iPads. This was streamed live onto screens around the venue to create an engaging spectacle. The team also shared illustrations on social media during the day to boost engagement with online audiences.
